Tarte Flambee

TARTE FLAMBÉE

The dish comes from the historic regions of Alsace, Saarland, Baden and Pfalz at the French-German border region. It is composed of bread dough rolled out very thinly in the shape of an oval, which is covered with Créme Fraîche and other Toppings added before or after baking. Tarte Flambée is baked in the oven, the intense heat would be able to bake it in 2 or 3 minutes. The crust that forms the border of the Tarte Flambée would be nearly burned by the heat. The result resembles a thin pizza.
